Showmanship

The second video in my new series about the class types, this one is Showmanship. In my showmanship career, I have about 30 points and am a top 5 and top 10 regional championship placer in Novice. I plan on going to the Novice Championship show this year.
If you are looking for more showmanship help there are many youtube videos about it. Holly Hover has some really good ones, America's Horse Daily also has some good reports about showmanship tips. If the video quality is not good, I'm sorry, I uploaded it before it was fully read. So search youtube for CocoRL10 and it will come up or should.

Convention

The aqha convention is going on right now in New Orleans. Anyone can attend and bring their ideas for aqha to the table, except that they have to be submitted before hand. Starting now you can submit ideas, and can talk about them at the convention.
So it's something to think about for next year!
For more information go to aqha.com where they are live covering the event.

Patterns

Really excited for show season can't wait for this stupid snow to melt. But wish I didn't have to go down to Connecticut every time I want to ride. Here are some patterns to get you in the showing mood. Even if you can't ride practice some in your head to get the feel that you want when you actually do ride, it'll help you achieve you goals, subconsciously. Also think of your vision as a benchmark to evaluate yourself.
Ranch Pleasure: even if you don't ride it, it can really help loosen up your horse, and take his mind off his job It helps if the horse or rider is crabby or stressed (it happens) because you are not trying to be perfect like you would for your regular events. All new things help for something like this, this class I used as an example. And if you are showing this class, don't force it let it come. And make sure that your horse is moving forward enough. If you need more tips aqha has a new showing to win DVD on it, and I can help. My aunt nationally qualified for the world show, and competed in it last November.

Aqha has sample patterns for ranch horse in their rule book.

sorry if you can't see this very well, this is for hunt-seat equitation. I will try to find jumping courses for tomorrow.

The Trail Rider

I feel like I have not been catering enough to the non show people. As much as I hate to admit it I am addicted and obsessed with showing. I have tried to get everyone at my barn showing. So some of the things that I have said here will be helpful but not all. One of the really good programs that is put out by aqha is the horseback riding program. It costs about 30 dollars a year, and in it you log your hours riding your horse. If you ride even over 25 hours a year you get awards, some of which include: saddle pads, jackets belt buckles and other stuff. Search aqha.com/riding or horseback riding program. If your ride a certain number or hours like 500, 1000, or 5,000, you get your name in the free magazine by aqha America's horse, and an article for 5,000. Hope you like this little tid bit sorry there is not more information about this topic. I could probably find more if any one really wanted it. Comment if needed

The 50

Aqha has a new supreme champion! Number 50! The definition of supreme champ is found in the awards video of mine but simplified you need to earn race, halter, and performance points and do well at it, Sorry for the lack of posts this last week I was away I know that I haven't done a video in a while so I will try to fit a new one in this week but I am running out of Ideas for them  so please comment! I need to know what you want because this blog is for you.
In other news Spring Breakout is this month. If you want to know more about what I am doing go to my other blog tiled Quarter Horse Journey at qhjourney.blogspot.com I might combine them because they are really similar but that would make me have to reformat so will see.
Happy March, It's show season!
