Showing Tips

I have found this article on aqha all about little showmanship tips. Also on each tip there is another article relating to each, like how to back up or something, the link is here:
http://www.aqha.com/Showing/News-Articles/02192014-10-Smart-Showmanship-Tips.aspx
If this doesn't work just search showmanship tips on aqha.
Americas Horse Daily, is the best source for you to find information. They can pull from trainers interviews done by the journal. They are like an online quarter horse data base, they might not have 100 articles on everything  but there should be at least 3 or 4 items per search. This website mostly focuses on current issues, and tips to improve for showing, meaning search classes. They aren't in as much to the rules go to aqha.com for that.

The second Quiz

This quiz, on the aqha awards, was designed to be harder than the first one, and tests to see if you really know your trivia, please respond! I cannot post the results from the first quiz until I get 10 responses, same goes for this one. Enjoy the quiz.

The three digit number!

This blog, which has been on the web for exactly 2 weeks has hit 100  pageviews! Kind of a landmark for me. So in honor of the three digit number, please tell me what you think about the blog, what changes should be made, and what videos you would like to see in the future, thanks

Online Stable!

To give everyone a heads up my next video will be about this new program that aqha designed about stable management. It's called Online Stable, and you can keep track of all your expenses hours with your horse and so on. At the end of the year you will be able to take your info and put it in for taxes, or whatever. So check it out, it's very simple to use, and comment if you have any questions.

Looking For more?

Aqha.com is a great resource when searching for information. Sometimes searches may not yield what you want so you want to find a way around that. Try doing a generic search on google, or your search engine. Type in What is the aqha superior? Click on the aqha showing glossary, or the link to aqha if that does not specifically show up. The search engines are better than aqha.com directly because it might bring up a more specific thing. The aqha showing glossary is also very helpful when searching for awards. If you want more info on awards for other organization like the Paints or Appy's follow the links below. http://www.appaloosa.com/
and http://www.apha.com/
The appaloosa website does not have a lot so you would need to consult their handbook to find out more information but the apha website is very similar to the aqha and you could probably use the same techniques to use their website.
Thanks, CocoRL10

Update

Now that I've gone over the basics, I just wanted to let you know of some sites where you can find a bunch of information that your looking for. I'm not sure how much experience you've had, if you've been in aqha for a while you probably know all the stuff I'm going to tell you. I am not endorsed by aqha by any means.
But Aqha has a really good series called showing to win.

  • they have showmanship
  • horsemanship
  • trail
  • pleasure
if your looking for something involving reining or ranch horse. the NRHA puts out a good series on how to complete their patterns to the best of your abilities. For English I would look up some videos on you tube and I'm sure there is tutorials available.
But here are some good websites.
  • You Tube, Search for world show winning runs so you can watch how they do it.
  • Equine chronicle online has some really good articles that they have published in the magazine, and our offering, they are free.
  •  Go Horse show.com is probably the best. If your looking for any kind of advice tips or news about shows they have it. They have done some really good articles with Bruce Vickery, and charlie Cole about what it takes to win.
  • In the Show horse today Magazine, Mark Sheridan also did a really good 7 part horsemanship article.
There is a lot out there to be offered, and if you want to practice judging or something aqha has free printable scoresheets for all the classes that need them.

How to Use the Handbook

Sorry, today I realized that I hadn't gone over how the rulebook works, and how to find everything you need. Not the most interesting video but if you watch I give you a lot of classes where you can find practice patterns for classes like trail, western riding, reining, ranch horse, and jumping (not positive on that last one). So you don't need to watch the video but if you want to know what's in there, and how to find it I show you the basics, CocoRL10
